Findom USA: Findommes and Paypigs, State by State

From California to Florida: where our American members are, and what US law says about the game.

Where America's findommes and subs are

Findom Finder has more than 1,700 members in the USA, more than in any other country. California, Texas, New York and Florida have the most, and New York and Los Angeles each have more than 90 members.

How findom plays out in America

Most American findom happens on screens. The public side lives on X, where dommes post and run games, and on marketplaces such as NiteFlirt, which has its own financial domination category for pay-per-minute calls. Findom has been on American television for a decade: MTV's "True Life" ran an episode called "I'm a Financial Dominatrix" in October 2016.

The private side, finding one domme or one sub worth keeping, is what Findom Finder is for. Members sign up as a domme or a sub, set out what they are after and talk privately, with ratings, ID badges and alerts when someone tries to move the chat elsewhere. Our comparisons of Findom Finder and Twitter and Findom Finder and NiteFlirt set them side by side.

To join you must be 18 or over, or 21 in Alabama, Mississippi, Nebraska and Wyoming, as Findom Finder's terms set out.

Is findom legal in the US?

No federal or state law that names financial domination was found in our research. Choosing to hand money to someone you serve is not, by itself, a crime. What the law does punish is the conduct that sometimes hides behind the word:

  • Extortion. Under federal law (18 U.S.C. § 875(d)), sending a threat to someone's reputation across state lines to extort money carries up to two years in prison, and states have their own laws: New York's covers threats to expose a secret.
  • Threats to publish intimate images. The TAKE IT DOWN Act, signed in May 2025, made it illegal to knowingly publish, or threaten to publish, intimate images without consent.
  • Fraud and anything involving under-18s, which are crimes in every state.

So the "blackmail" some dynamics play with must stay role play, with no real threat. And debt contracts do not bind anyone: a Harvard Law Review Note from 2014 describes the law's long refusal to enforce contracts involving sex, and a contract needs both sides to take on an obligation. Asking whether findom is legal in Texas or Florida? We found no state law that names it; the same general crimes apply, and a local lawyer can advise on your situation. More in our guide to whether findom is legal. This is not legal advice.

Do American findommes pay tax?

The IRS says income from the gig economy must be reported even if it is part time and even if no 1099 form arrives, whether it is paid in cash, property, goods or virtual currency, and federal law defines gross income as income "from whatever source derived". A true gift is different: the Supreme Court described gifts in the Duberstein case as coming from "detached and disinterested generosity", and the IRS says the giver, not the receiver, is generally responsible for any gift tax, with an annual exclusion of $19,000 per recipient for 2026.

Where a tribute falls depends on the facts, so ask a tax professional. Findom Finder itself never handles tributes: it is for meeting, not selling.

Cash meets and scams, American style

For an in-person cash meet, follow the advice police departments give for any online meeting. Boise Police put it simply in 2026: "Meet in public and stay in public", arrange your own transport, tell a trusted friend where you are going and who you are meeting, and if something feels wrong, leave immediately. Remember that a cash meet means handing over a gift in a public place and nothing sexual; findom near me covers the rest.

Where to report in the US: the FTC takes fraud reports at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and advises reverse image searches to expose fake profiles; the FBI's IC3 takes reports of online extortion and sextortion. The FTC counted 64,003 romance scam reports in 2023, with $1.14 billion in reported losses. In distress, call or text 988.

Findom in the USA, answered

Is findom legal in the US?

No federal or state law that names findom was found, and handing over money by choice is not, by itself, a crime. Extortion, threats to publish intimate images and fraud are crimes, which is why any "blackmail" between members has to remain a game. This is not legal advice.

Is findom legal in Texas or Florida?

We found no Texas or Florida law that names findom. The general laws on extortion, harassment and fraud apply there as everywhere, and the federal rules apply across state lines. For advice on your own case, speak to a local lawyer.

Which US states have the most findom members?

California, with more than 220 Findom Finder members, then Texas with more than 190, New York with more than 150 and Florida with more than 140. New York City and Los Angeles each have more than 90.

How old do I have to be to join in the US?

18 or over, or 21 in Alabama, Mississippi, Nebraska and Wyoming, and wherever the age of majority is higher than 18, as Findom Finder's terms set out.
