Findom Terms: Speak the Language Before You Send
The words you will meet, from tribute to wallet drain, with the risky ones flagged.
What are the basic findom terms?
Start with six. A findomme is the dominant and a paypig or finsub is the submissive. A tribute is money the sub sends, a send is any single payment, and a drain takes as much as he can afford. A cash meet hands money over in person, in public. Everything else here builds on those six.
Findom words for who is who
Wikipedia lists the names for both sides of financial domination; these are the ones you will see on profiles and in messages.
- Findom
- Short for financial domination, joining "financial" and "dom". It names the practice, and it is also used for the dominant who practises it.
- Findomme
- A financially dominant woman: the domme a paypig serves, and the women on our findommes page. Men take the dominant role too, and the word findom covers them.
- Goddess
- One of the names Wikipedia lists for the dominant, beside money domme, money mistress, money master and cashmaster.
- Paypig or pay pig
- The sub who pays. Wikipedia also gives cash piggy, and our guide to what a paypig is covers the role in depth.
- Finsub
- Financial and submissive, blended into one word. The same role as a paypig, said more politely.
- Money slave and cash slave
- The same role in harsher words. Money slave goes back to the first academic study of findom in 2007; Cash Slaves was the title of a VICE film in 2015.
- Human ATM
- Another name for the sub on Wikipedia's list: someone who pays out on demand.
Findom money words: tribute, send and drain
These describe what moves, and how fast. Findom Finder never handles any of it: members agree between themselves how and when anything is sent.
- Tribute
- Money a sub sends to a domme. A findomme told Vice in 2020: "in order to speak to me in the first instance, they need to send a tribute (a minimum payment)." ABC reported in 2024 that some dommes ask for one to check a new sub is genuine.
- Tribute fee
- A small fixed tribute asked of strangers in public posts. A veteran findomme told Business Insider in 2022 that this kind of request is "not findom at its core".
- Send
- A single payment, and a verb as well: he sends, she receives. Practitioners write of "a series of sends to the domme's preferred payment methods".
- Drain
- One domme's guide defines it as "emptying a sub's bank account, using a series of sends". The top of the scale, and only ever inside a limit the sub set.
- Wallet drain
- Business Insider's definition: "A 'wallet drain' is jargon for when a findomme empties the pay pig's bank account, or takes the maximum amount of money that they can afford to give away."
- Rinsing
- Another word for the paying itself. McCracken and Brooks-Gordon's 2021 study describes findom as involving "rinsing", and Channel 4's 2012 documentary Sex, Lies & Rinsing Guys followed women rinsing men for gifts, a close cousin of findom.
Findom slang for how the game is played
- Tasks
- Orders a domme gives her sub. Vice wrote in 2020 about a sub given domestic chores and writing assignments, and one domme's glossary notes a task can come with a tribute attached or without.
- Wishlist
- Gifts the domme has chosen for subs to buy. The 2021 study's definition of findom includes "gifts from a wish list", Vice has described lists on Amazon and other sites, and Throne is a wishlist platform for creators.
- Menu
- A price list that some dommes who run findom as a business publish on other platforms. One practitioner's guide puts it simply: "You set your own menu, and the prices for each item on it."
- Cash meet
- In one findom glossary's words, "Meeting in real life with a sub so they can give you cash, or take you shopping, or both." Always somewhere public, and nothing changes hands but the money or the gift. Findom near me covers the safety side.
- Retweet game (RT game)
- A public game on X in which subs pay for every retweet, like or reply a domme's post gets. Vice reported on them in 2020, and findom on Twitter has more.
- Owned
- A sub in an agreed long-term arrangement with one domme, who owns him, as one findom glossary puts it. Ownership is part of the game, and either side can end it.
Menus, wishlist links and payment details are how findom runs on social media. Findom Finder is a place to meet and agree a personal dynamic, so keep all three off your profile and out of your messages.
The findom words that come with a warning
- Debt contract
- One practitioner defines it as "a written document a domme uses to set the terms of payment a sub must follow", then admits it is "not really legally enforceable". A sub told Vice in 2020 he was paying one off in instalments after a retweet game. It is a prop, not a debt.
- Blackmail fantasy
- Role play in which the domme pretends to hold the sub's secrets over him. It is as old as the research: Durkin's 2007 study listed "blackmail" among what men paid women online for, next to humiliation. Most dommes only ever do it as role play, one findom glossary says.
- Catfish
- A fake account built on someone else's photos. A domme told MEL Magazine in 2018 that the fakes were often "men posing as women". A reverse image search can expose one.
- Catfish findom
- The odd corner where a sub knowingly pays an account he believes is fake. Gizmodo described it in 2019, including one man who ended up deep in debt.
Real threats are crimes, whatever was agreed: section 21 of the Theft Act 1968 makes blackmail punishable by up to 14 years in prison in England and Wales, and its wording has no exception for consent. Since January 2024 a threat to share someone's intimate image has been a crime in the UK as well, and in the US a threat against someone's reputation, made across state lines to get money, breaks federal law.
A real threat calls for evidence, not money: screenshot it, block the account, report it and contact the police. Our guides to whether findom is legal and findom scams set out the law in general terms, not as legal advice, and findom addiction helps if a debt game has become real debt.
Findom slang, answered
What does wallet drain mean in findom?
A wallet drain is when a findomme takes as much money as a sub can afford to give, sometimes everything in his account, usually through a run of sends. It is the extreme end of findom, and it only stays a game while the sub keeps to a limit he set beforehand and never borrows to keep going.
What is a debt contract in findom?
A written "debt" a domme sets for her sub, saying what he must pay and when. It reads like a contract but binds nobody: the sum it records is money he never received, and no court case enforcing one has been found. Treat it as part of the play, and never borrow to pay one off.
What does blackmail mean in findom?
In findom, blackmail is a fantasy: role play in which the domme pretends she could expose the sub, agreed by both, with nothing real held over anyone. A genuine threat to expose someone for money is a crime, and in England and Wales the maximum sentence is 14 years. If it stops feeling like a game, it has stopped being one.
What is a findom menu?
A price list some findommes publish on social media and other platforms, setting out what they offer and what each item costs. It belongs to findom run as a business. Findom Finder is for meeting and agreeing a personal dynamic between adults, so menus, price lists and payment links never go on a profile here.
